MANHEIM, Pa. -- Five members of the Augustana Vikings men's wrestling team are ranked regionally to begin the 2024-25 season, the NWCA announced Monday morning. 

Senior Josh Woodrey is No. 12 nationally and No. 2 regionally in the 285 weight class division. Woodrey won 23 of his 27 matches to collect 101 team points during the 2023-24 season. At the Lower Midwest Regional last season, the senior placed fourth after posting undefeated records on day one. Woodrey finished second at the CCIW Championships after falling to his nationally-ranked opponent in the finals. Woodrey received CCIW All-Conference and NWCA Scholar All-American honors.

Senior Jacob Badger is regionally ranked No. 3 in the 197 weight class and finished last season with a 25-8 record. Badger finished seventh overall at the Lower Midwest Regional last season after conquering the 197 category at the CCIW Championships to be the first champion for Augie since 2019. Badger finished the season with CCIW All-Conference, NWCA Scholar All-American, and CSC Academic All-District honors. 

Sophomore Braiden Young is ranked No. 4 regionally in the 184 division and finished the 2023-24 season with a record of 14-19. Young was the Central Last Chance Invitational Champion after a 3-1 tiebreak and a 4-1 sudden victory. He also earned CCIW Men's Wrestler of the Week accolades a season ago.

Sophomore Michael Macias is regionally ranked No. 6 in the 149 weight class after posting a 22-6 record last season. At the Lower Midwest Regional, Macias earned eighth in his respective weight division after finishing second in the CCIW Championships. Macias concluded the 2023-24 season with CCIW All-Conference and NWCA Scholar All-American honors. 

Senior Jack Patting is ranked No. 6 in the 165 weight class and finished the 2023-24 season 16-10. Patting secured a fourth-place finish at the CCIW Championships after picking up a win over wrestlers ranked in the top 10 nationally at the junior college level. Patting finished the 2023-24 season with third-team all-conference honors.

The Augustana Vikings men's wrestling team is set to start the season on Saturday, November 2 at 4 p.m. in the Carver Center against MSOE.
