10/18/2024 2:00:00 PM

ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings men's water polo team will play its first and only home game in 2024 on Saturday, October 19 when McKendree visits the Anne Greve Lund Natatorium.

Augie currently sits 8-5 on the season, recently completing a 4-0 MPSF weekend in Washington, Pa. The Vikings out-scored their four league opponents 90-34 across the four games, which also included three double-digit wins. Stevan Rasic scored 24 times over the weekend and was named to his second straight MPSF East Player of the Week award. He tallied eight goals in the team's 30-10 win over Wheaton on Sunday, breaking the program record for most in a single game he set earlier this season. The Vikings are 5-3 against Division III opponents this year, with the three losses coming by a combined seven points to teams ranked in the top six nationally.

McKendree is seeking its first win this season, currently sitting with an 0-11 overall record. The Bearcats recently competed at the Gary Troyer Tournament in Southern California and fell to Fresno Pacific and Cal Lutheran on the final day of the invite. Saturday will be just the second true road game for McKendree this season, with the other resulting in a 17-11 loss at Bucknell back on September 21.

Augustana is 2-3 all-time against McKendree, but has won the last two encounters in the series. The Vikings knocked off the Bearcats last season at home by a score of 17-16 and won 11-5 at McKendree in the 2024 season opener. Rasic scored three times to lead Augie, while Oskar Bannister and Rhys Lomax also added two. Declan Hutton finished with 14 saves.

Following the game, the program will recognize seven seniors. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m., with the senior recognition ceremony to follow.
