Vikings erupt for 53 goals in two wins on Sunday

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Augustana Vikings men's water polo wrapped up a 4-0 weekend on Sunday with conference wins over Penn State Behrend and Wheaton (Mass.). The Vikings defeated the Lions 23-6 before knocking off the Lyons 30-10 in the finale.

Stevan Rasic led a balanced offensive attack in game one against the Lions, finishing with six goals to go with a steal and a block. A total of 11 Vikings notched at least one goal in the win, with four boasting multi-goal efforts. Jake Fisher was next in line with four tallies, while Cole Faux followed with three. Augie came out of a 10-4 halftime lead with its largest scoring output of the game in the third, putting up a nines-spot to pull away for good.

Tyler Leslie also added four assists to help lead the Augustana offense, while Henry Sothern stopped 14 shots to earn the win in net.

In game two vs. Wheaton, it was all Augie from the start as the team jumped out to an 11-point fourth quarter before adding six more in the second for a 17-6 halftime lead. Nine more goals made it a 26-8 lead after three prior to reaching the 30-mark with four in the fourth. This time around, 12 players found the back of the net, with Rasic again leading the way with eight goals. Colin McDowell was next on the team with five goals and Oskar Bannister also contributed three. Ian Root notched 21 saves in net.

With the wins, Augustana improves to 8-5 overall and 4-0 in conference play. The team will be back in action next Saturday at home vs. McKendree.
