DAVENPORT, Iowa -- The Augustana Vikings track and field teams boasted several lifetime bests and saw new entries to the program record book over the weekend as they traveled across the river to take on the Fighting Bee Invite hosted by St. Ambrose.
On Friday, the Vikings sat in third place with six points on the women's side with Allison Hunt earning the No. 8 all-time in pentathlon in the Augustana record book. In her first time ever competing in the event, Hunt claimed third place with 2584 points, finishing in third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.99 and first place in the high jump with a height of 1.57 meters. Hunt continued with the long jump where she secured 4.83 meters to obtain third place, grabbed seventh in the shot put with a throw of 7.25 meters, and wrapped up running an 800-meter time of 2:48.44 to secure fourth.Â
For the men, Mike Hudson finished in second in the heptathlon with a score of 3957. Hudson started his night with a ninth-place finish in the 60-meter dash, following with a fourth-place position in the long jump with a height of 5.86 meters to go with throw of 10.83 meters in the shot put to grab third. To close out the event, Hudson secured a third-place finish in the high jump with a height of 1.74 meters, ran a time of 9.69 in the 60-meter hurdles to finish fourth, jumped 3.00 meters in the pole vault, and crossed the finish line at 2:55.02 in the 1000-meter to finish second. He saw personal records in four events, while fellow teammate Devin Gephart notched three PRs in the heptathlon as well.
A total of 17 of the 18 performances on Friday were good for lifetime bests.Â
Also on Friday, Joe Langridge traveled to Whitewater, Wis. for the Squig Converse meet hosted by the UW-Whitewater Warhawks. Langridge ran the 3000-meter race and earned Augustana's new school record with a time of 8:18.03. He earned third place overall and now sits top 15 in the nation.Â
Back at the Fighting Bee Invite on Saturday, McKenzie Reser secured a second-place finish in the 60-meter dash prelims with a time of 7.92 and turned around to grab the victory in finals after besting her time with a 7.82. Reser also ran in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.39 to secure second place. In the mile, Emma Odle crossed the line first with a time of 5:10.09 and Anna Boardman followed with a time of 5:17.80 to finish third. Odle also found victory in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:25.21, with Boardman following in third with a time of 2:29.90. Also seeing success on the track, Reser, Cora Deemer, Elizabeth Hayes, and Jordyn Van Santen finished third in the 4x400 relay. In field events, Rhiannon Marshall found victory in the high jump with a height of 1.55 meters.
On the men's side, Grant Ackard crossed the finish line third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:04.68, while Adam Miller secured a first-place finish in the 3000Â with a time of 8:57.17. Joe Gibbons also followed in fourth, clocking in at 9:12.57. Elsewhere, AJ Banks secured fourth place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.78. In field events, Magnus Wells threw 16.90 meters in the weight throw to finish third, while Luke Cowan obtained sixth throwing 15.98 meters.Â
The women's team secured second place with 110 points, while the men finished sixth with 76.5 points. Â
The track &Â field teams will be back in action on February 3 for the Walter Cramer Invite in Bourbonnais, Ill.
