Swimming & diving teams defeated by St. Ambrose

DAVENPORT, Iowa -- The Augustana Vikings men's and women's swimming & diving teams both fell in their final road dual meets of the season on Friday, with the women coming up short against the St. Ambrose Fighting Bees by a score of 120-107, while the men fell by a final of 159-60.

Tyler Leslie kept his momentum alive with another win, taking first in the 1650 with a time of 16:29.56. The time was good for over a minute faster than the second-place finisher. Leslie also won the 100-yard fly at 51.79. In the 200-yard freestyle, Kacper Cebula led the charge for the team in fourth place as the Vikings secured the next two spots after his 1:48.19 finish. He also snagged third in the 100-yard free. Michael Garland secured tallied in the 200-yard IM with a mark of 2:03.13, while Hunter Craft and Gavin McCorry went second and third in the 100-yard back. 

In the 200-yard free style, the Vikings secured places two through five, led by Mara Walker in second. Walker also earned second in the 200-yard IM with a 2:16.25 time and won the 500 freestyle race with an end result of 5:15.35.. In the 50 freestyle, Hailey Glasnovich notched second with a mark of 26.11, while Kylee Blaha grabbed third with a time of 27.08. Glasnovich also saw success in the 100-yard backstroke with a second-place standing, followed in third by Grace King. In the 100-yard fly, Augustana wrapped up fourth, fifth, and sixth in the event, highlighted by Bella Casanovas with a time of 1:04.33. The Vikings went one and two in the 100-free, with Olivia White securing the top placement at 56.43 and Caitlin Stoddard in second with a mark of 56.60. 

The women's 200-yard freestyle relay team of White, Walker, Casanovas, and Blaha grabbed second with a time of 1:43.41, while the men's squad comprised of Leslie, Albert Buvary, Lucas Rettig, and McCorry also tallied second at 1:27.82. The women's 200 medley relay team of Glasnovich, Logan Alsop, Jenna Hale, and Stoddard also secured second place. 

Kaite Zaborenko won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events, notching scores of 170.05 and 166.25.

The Vikings drop to 3-2 on the year in dual meets and will be back in action tomorrow at the North Central/UIC Invite in Westmont, Ill.
