DAVENPORT, Iowa -- The Augustana Vikings men's wrestling team starts 2024 with a mid-week non-conference battle against the St. Ambrose Fighting Bees on Wednesday, January 3. 

The Vikings sit at 6-5 on the season and return from the Kalahari Duals on December 16, where they accomplished a 3-1 record. Augie had seven top finishers, starting with Trevor Boryla, who went 4-0 in the 133 weight division with two technical falls, a fall, and a forfeit. The Vikings had three individuals that went 3-0. Michael Macias had a 13-3 major decision, a 6-5 decision, and a fall, while Jacob Badger earned a 18-1 technical fall and a 12-7 and 16-5 major decision in the 197 class. Josh Woodrey also grabbed two 9-0 major decisions and a 13-2 major decision in the 285 category. Khadyn Jacobs and Jack Reina conquered the 125 weight class, with Jacobs securing two falls and Reina notching a fall and a 27-17 major decision. 

St. Ambrose has an overall record of 10-5 on the season and enters the mid-week dual after competing at the Reno Tournament of Champions on Sunday, where they earned no team score. In their last dual meet, the Bees fell 34-12 to Embry-Riddle in Arizona on December 15, where they grabbed three individual wins.

This will be the Vikings' third time facing off against St. Ambrose, with both teams earning a victory. During the 2022-23 season, Augie secured a 24-18 win in the Carver Center.
