Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- The Augustana Vikings men's water polo team wrapped up their first day at the Gary Troyer Tournament on Friday, falling to No. 4 Cal Lutheran 13-7 before defeating No. 7 Occidental by a final score of 11-10.

In game one, the Vikings held the early advantage after a pair of first quarter goals, one each by Joseph Addison and Mark Addison. Augie held Cal Lutheran without a score in the first eight minutes of action, but a five-goal second quarter from the Kingsmen made it a 5-5 game at halftime. The Vikings notched three scores in the second period, with Ian Palmroos, Tyler Leslie, and Oskar Bannister all contributing to the Augustana total.

Cal Lutheran pulled away with a five-goal third quarter while holding the Vikings without a point. The Addison brothers each added their second goal in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough as the Kingsmen held on for the six-point win.

Declan Hutton grabbed eight saves in net for Augie.

The second game of the day featured a true road battle for the No. 10 ranked Vikings. A high-scoring first quarter introduced the contest, with the Vikings taking a 5-3 lead into the second period. Rhys Lomax tallied the game's first score 90 seconds into the match, followed by goals from Palmroos and Bannister to put the team up 3-0. Another score from M. Addison and Bannister rounded out the busy opening eight minutes for Augie.

The success on offense continued for each team prior to halftime, with the Vikings posting a 4-3 lead in the second to bring the score to 9-6 at the break. Zander O'Dwyer and Stevan Rasic found the back of the net early in the frame, followed by goals from Palmroos and Bannister. The defenses stepped up in the second half, with Occidental slowly creeping back into the game with a 2-1 third quarter advantage. A clutch goal by J. Addison at 5:18 in the fourth proved to be the difference maker as the team held off two final goals from the Tigers to complete the one-goal win.

Bannister led the Vikings with three goals, while Hutton notched 14 saves in net.

With the results, Augustana moves to 3-3 on the season. The team will face No. 4 Chapman and No. 1 Redlands on Saturday.
