BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings women's volleyball team will dive back in to CCIW action on Wednesday, September 27 when they visit the Illinois Wesleyan Titans for a mid-week match.

Augie enters Wednesday sporting a 10-3 overall record, 1-1 in conference play. The Vikings are coming off of a 3-0 road defeat by No. 7 UW-Whitewater, falling by scores of 25-18, 25-14, 29-27. After a couple of lengthy scoring runs helped clinch the first two sets for the Warhawks, the Vikings battled with the No. 7 ranked team in the nation in set three, using a comeback effort to nearly steal the game. Trailing 13-7, the Vikings stormed back to eventually pull within a point at 17-16. After Whitewater responded with four points in a row, Augustana rattled off four straight of their own to remain within striking distance before forcing a deadlock at 23 points apiece. The Vikings sat at set point following two of the next three points going their way, but the Warhawks capped off the 29-27 win with five of the final seven scores.

Emily Schipper was the team leader in kills with 10, while Grace Vranicar posted a match-high 19 digs.

The Titans currently sit at 5-8 overall and are 1-1 in CCIW action. The team has alternated wins and losses over the their last six matches, posting a 3-3 record over that time. Illinois Wesleyan is 5-3 after starting the season 0-5 and is looking to bounce back from a loss in their most recent outing, a 3-0 home defeat to No. 2 Hope. The Titans have two common opponents with the Vikings this year, matching Augie's wins against both Wartburg and Illinois College.

Augustana is 28-44-1 all-time against Illinois Wesleyan, but won last year's encounter at home to break a six-match losing streak against Illinois Wesleyan. The Vikings capped off a five-set thriller over the then-ranked Titans, notching their first victory in the series since 2015.
