Box Score ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings men's tennis team earned a win in their first dual meet of the season on Tuesday, defeating the visiting Wartburg Knights by a score of 9-0 at the Lower Campus Courts. 

All three doubles matches went in favor of Augie, including a swift 8-1 victory at the No. 1 spot from Arthur Hermange and David Larraga. The other two matches were much tighter, but Gabriel Luna and Timothee Philip at No. 2 and Nicolas Navarro and Gustavo Fontenelle at No. 3 both prevailed to give the Vikings a 3-0 cushion entering singles.

In singles, five of the six matches were won in consecutive sets. Four clean sets were produced across the board, including a 6-0, 6-0 win from Navarro at the No. 4 position. Larraga took down his opponent at No. 2 by a score of 6-2, 6-0, while Deepak Vayara posted the other flawless set at the No. 6 slot, winning 6-1, 6-0. Hermange at No. 1 and Philip at No. 5 each posted 6-2, 6-2 wins, while Luna rounded out the sweep with a three-set win at No. 3.

Augustana will be back in action September 29-October 1 at the ITA Regional Championships in Kalamazoo, Mich.
