JOLIET, Ill. – The Augustana Vikings men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed at the St. Francis Fighting Chance Meet on Friday and Saturday, finishing with multiple top ten results in a meet where no team scores were recorded.
Rhiannon Marshall turned in the Vikings best placement from the weekend, finishing fourth in the women's high jump with a 1.51m extension. Marshall finished narrowly behind her 1.56m leap at the CCIW Championships back on May 6. Rounding out field events was Heather Michalski, who notched a 36.96m toss in the javelin throw to finish seventh.
Emma Odle came in fifth in the 1500m event in 4:59.74, just seven seconds behind her 4:52.47 time a week ago at the capstone conference meet. McKenzie Reser finished 12th in the 200m with a 25.40. Reser's time is also the ninth fastest in program history for the event.
On the men's side, Carson Eipers recorded a 52.26m toss in the hammer throw to place fifth. Eipers trailed his 53.33m toss from the Augustana Meet of Champions back on April 22, which propelled him to a No. 50 national ranking. In timed events, Connor McBride finished ninth in the 400m at 50.11, while Ethan Gabrys finished in the same position in the 400m hurdle at 59.65.
The Vikings will be back in action May 18 in Rock Island for the Augustana Midwest Twilight.
