ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings men's tennis team will play in its first home match of the 2022-23 season on Thursday, April 6 when they welcome the Central Dutch to campus.
Augustana is currently riding a four-match winning streak, recently defeating the Wartburg Knights on the road by a score of 6-3.The Vikings claimed the early lead in the match with two wins in doubles play, earning victories at the No. 2 and 3 positions. At No. 2,Â

Nicolas Navarro secured an 8-5 victory at No. 3. Augustana led 2-1 heading into singles action.
Four of the six singles contests belonged to Augustana, highlighted by wins in the the No. 4, 5, and 6 spots from Philip, Navarro, and Fontenelle. All three tallied one set win by a 6-1 final.Â
Quentin Essayie was the other winner for the Vikings, defeating his counterpart at No. 2 by a close-fought score of 6-4, 7-6.Â
Deepak Vayara battled back from a first set loss at No. 1, but eventually fell in the tiebreaker.Â
Central comes in sporting a 7-8 overall record and are winners of their last two outings, most recently defeating Simpson by a score of 9-0. Overall, the Dutch have won three out of their last four and four of their last six matches after beginning the season 3-6.
Augustana possesses a 9-15 all-time record against Central.
