WHEATON, Ill. -- The No. 5 seeded Augustana Vikings men's tennis team saw their season come to an end on Thursday in the CCIW quarterfinals, falling to the No. 4 seed Wheaton Thunder by a score of 5-2.
Augustana fell behind early, dropping all three doubles matches for the 3-0 deficit heading into singles. Both the No. 1 and 2 matches were back-and-forth, but eventually went to Thunder by identical scores of 8-6.
In singles, the Vikings earned a point back as
Nicolas Navarro quickly took care of his opponent at the No. 6 position, winning by a score of 6-0, 6-2. After Wheaton secured a win at No. 2, Augustana inched closer again with a victory at No. 4, seeing a close 6-4, 7-5 match go in favor of
Gabriel Luna. The Thunder wrapped up their fifth point and the match following a win at No. 3.
The Vikings end their season with an 11-7 record, the 17th time in the last 18 seasons they have reached double figures in wins.
