WAVERLY, Iowa – The Augustana men's and women's track and field teams traveled to the Wartburg Outdoor Select across Saturday and Sunday, finishing 11th out of 17 teams on the men's side and 12th out of 16 teams on the women's side. The highly-competitive meet was filled with teams ranging across the NCAA Division I, II, and III levels. The women ended third out of DIII schools in attendance, while the men earned fourth out of the seven DIII programs.
Reid McNeill highlighted the Vikings' placements on the men's side with a third-place finish in the pole vault with an extension of 3.96m. Teammate Seth Rohr followed McNeill, who finished fifth in the same event with a vault of 3.81m. Seth Sottos secured the other top-five placement for the men with a fifth-place finish in the 100m sprint with a time of 10.89.
Elsewhere, Carson Eipers finished seventh in the hammer throw competition with a hurl of 49.69m. In the 5000m, Joe Langridge and Grant Ackard finished 11th and 12th with respective times of 15:41.52 and 15:43.84. Cameron Tomko also claimed a 10th-place finish in the 400m dash with a 51.16 time.
On the women's side, Charlotte Frere led the way with her second-place finish in the discus throw with a toss of 43.40m. Frere finished 0.37m away from a top placement in the event, which featured 43 other participants. In the javelin throw, Heather Michalski turned in the Vikings' other top-five finish with her 37.61m hurl to secure fifth place.
In running events, McKenzie Reser finished seventh in the 100m dash with her time of 12.65, while Lina Maatouk finished eighth in the 800m with her 2:24.42 time. In the 5000m, Anna Boardman also turned in an eighth-place finish with a time of 18:45.44.
The men's 4x100 meter relay team placed fourth out of 10 teams with a 43.00 time and consisted of runners Jason Smith, Connor McBride, Sottos, and Braeden Clements.
The Vikings will be back in action on April 7 for the Rex Foster Twilight meet in Whitewater, Wisc.
