NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings women's tennis team will begin their postseason journey on Thursday, April 20 when they take on the No. 4 seed Carthage Firebirds in the first round of the CCIW Tournament.

Augustana enters as the No. 5 seed after posting a 4-4 record in conference this season. The Vikings are 9-6 overall, most recently defeating the Central Dutch on Senior Day this past Saturday. Augie began the match with a clean sweep of doubles, led by an 8-1 win from Hannah Colbert and Caitlyn Hanulikova at the No. 1 spot. Lily Schoeck and Lauren Oda earned an 8-3 victory at No. 2, while Grace Rider and Natasha Gauerke defeated their opponent by a final score of 8-4. Augustana led 3-0 heading into singles.

The two teams were able to complete three matches before the contest was called due to rain. The Vikings won all three of the completed contests, highlighted by Hanulikova's 6-0, 6-0 triumph at No. 2. Schoeck earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1, with Michaela Magee rounding out the wins for the Vikings with a 6-0, 6-1 of her opponent at No. 3. All three of the remaining matches were still in progress when the contest was called. Hannah Colbert and Oda were both victorious in their respective first sets.

The Vikings last conference match came against Carthage, resulting in a 6-3 win for the Firebirds back in October. The two teams entered the match already having locked in their CCIW Tournament matchup regardless of the outcome.

Carthage currently sits with a record of 11-8 overall, also posting a 4-4 record in the CCIW. The Firebirds have won three in a row, most recently picking up a pair of home wins on Sunday over MSOE and Edgewood. Carthage has won six of their last seven contests.

Augie holds a 26-16 all-time lead in the series. The two teams squared off in the first round of last year's CCIW Tournament, resulting in a 5-4 win for Augustana. Both squads entered that match with identical seeds as this season's championships.

Start time is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
