DECATUR, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's tennis team will continue their conference schedule on Tuesday, April 18 when they visit the Millikin Big Blue in an important showdown.

Augustana enters with a 9-4 overall record and 2-1 mark in the CCIW. The team recently saw their seven-match winning streak come to an end in a 5-4 home defeat by Wheaton on Saturday. Augustana found themselves playing catch-up after Wheaton grabbed all three doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead into singles. After Wheaton secured the first singles match at No. 3, the Vikings rattled off three straight wins at No. 6, 4, and 5 to cut the deficit to one and stay alive in the match. Nicolas Navarro earned the first win for Augie with a 6-2, 6-2 victory, followed by a 6-2, 7-5 triumph from Gabriel Luna and three-set win from Timothee Philip.

Wheaton secured the match with a three-set thriller at No. 2. Arthur Hermange came out victorious at No. 1, winning a third set to claim his match for as many times in two days.

Millikin currently sits with a 13-5 overall record and 3-2 standing in the conference. The Big Blue have won three of their last four matches, including a 9-0 win in their most recent outing against Carroll on Saturday. Augie currently sits fourth in the conference, followed by Millikin in fifth. The Vikings are tied in the loss column with CCIW leaders North Central and Carthage.

The Vikings hold a 40-4 advantage all-time against the Big Blue, winning the last 10 dating back to 2014. Augie won the last meeting between the two in last season's conference tournament by a score of 5-0.

Start time is scheduled for 3 p.m.

On Wednesday, the Vikings will return home to host the Elmhurst Bluejays, who possess a 3-5 record overall and 0-3 mark in the CCIW entering Tuesday. The Bluejays have dropped four in a row, including a 9-0 loss to Illinois Wesleyan their most recent time out.

Augustana is 49-9 all-time against Elmhurst, winning last year's match on the road by a score of 7-2. Start time on Wednesday is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
