ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings women's team capped off their regular season on Saturday, defeating the Central Dutch at home by a score of 6-0 on Senior Day.
Augie began the match with a clean sweep of doubles, led by an 8-1 win from
Hannah Colbert and
Caitlyn Hanulikova at the No. 1 spot.
Lily Schoeck and
Lauren Oda earned an 8-3 victory at No. 2, while
Grace Rider and
Natasha Gauerke defeated their opponent by a final score of 8-4. Augustana led 3-0 heading into singles.
The two teams were able to complete three matches before the contest was called due to rain. The Vikings won all three of the completed contests, highlighted by Hanulikova's 6-0, 6-0 triumph at No. 2. Schoeck earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1, with
Michaela Magee rounding out the wins for the Vikings with a 6-0, 6-1 of her opponent at No. 3. All three of the remaining matches were still in progress when the contest was called.
Hannah Colbert and Oda were both victorious in their respective first sets.
With the win, Augie improves to 9-6 on the season. The Vikings will now get set to play in the CCIW Tournament, with a first round matchup against Carthage scheduled for Thursday, April 20. Start time is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. from Naperville, Ill.
