ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings men's tennis team will host a pair of conference teams this weekend, beginning with the North Central Cardinals on Friday, April 14 before taking on the Wheaton Thunder on Saturday, April 15.

Augie is currently riding a six-match winning streak, recently defeating St. Ambrose on Wednesday by a score of 7-2. Augustana held a slight advantage after doubles play, winning two of three matches to take a 2-1 lead into singles. Arthur Hermange and Gabriel Luna earned the win at the No. 1 position by a final of 8-3, while teammates Eliot Saint-Paul and Nicolas Navarro won their contest at the No. 3 spot by an identical score.

In singles, the Vikings took five of the six matches, winning two by third-set tiebreakers. Hermange bounced back from an opening-set loss at No. 1, winning the match by final of 5-7, 6-2, 10-3, while Timothee Philip also won his tiebreaker at No. 5, earning the 6-1, 5-7, 10-6 victory. Navarro made quick work of his opponent at No. 6, posting a clean 6-0, 6-0 sweep to add to the team's wins. Quentin Essayie at No. 3 and Luna at No. 4 rounded out the victories for Augustana, taking down their respective opponents in consecutive sets.

North Central enters Friday with a 14-6 overall record and perfect 5-0 mark in CCIW action. The Cardinals recently saw their four-match winning streak come to an end in a 9-0 defeat to No. 1 ranked Case Western Reserve. North Central knocked off Millikin prior to that by a final of 6-3 to remain unbeaten in conference play. Augustana holds a 55-8 advantage over North Central all-time, but has dropped the last two, including a 5-1 loss to the Cardinals in last season's CCIW Tournament. Start time on Friday is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the Vikings will take on the Wheaton Thunder at home at 11 a.m. The Thunder enter with an overall record of 10-7 and a conference mark of 3-2. Wheaton recently defeated Elmhurst by a score of 9-0 to move their CCIW record over .500. Saturday will mark the final road match of the season for the Thunder, in which they are 0-3 in. The Vikings are 24-47 all-time against the Thunder, dropping last year's tilt on the road by a score of 6-3.
