WAVERLY, Iowa -- The Augustana Vikings men's tennis team will look to extend their current win streak to four matches on Sunday, April 2 when they visit the Wartburg Knights in a non-conference battle.
Augustana enters the match with a 5-3 overall record, holding a three-match winning streak all by way of 9-0 scores. In their most recent outing, the Vikings earned a victory in their conference opener over the Illinois Wesleyan Titans, winning all nine matches. Timothee Philip also made quick work of their opponent at the No. 3 position, taking it by a score of 8-2, whileÂ

Quentin Essayie battled through a closer contest at No. 2 with a final of 8-5.
All six singles matches went favor of the Vikings to secure them their third 9-0 win in a row. Luna at No. 3 andÂ
Nicolas Navarro at No. 5 each posted 6-0 set wins on their way to wins in consecutive sets, while Vayara at No. 1, Essayie at No. 2, and
Arthur Mendes at No. 6 also won their matches in two sets. Philip defeated his opponent 6-0 in set one before dropping the second to send it to a tiebreaker. Philip completed the match sweep with a close 10-8 victory.
Wartburg currently possesses a 6-15 record, recently ending a three-match skip with a 6-3 triumph over conference rival Loras. Wartburg plays Coe on Saturday before hosting Augustana on Sunday.Â
The Vikings are 11-3 all-time versus the Knights, winning their last encounter by a score of 9-0 back in February of 2021.
Sunday's match is scheduled for 12 p.m.
