ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Members of the Augustana track & field teams traveled to the WashU Mini Meet on Saturday to compete in throwing events, helping lead the Vikings to a fourth-place standing on the women's side and fifth on the men's.
For the women, two Vikings earned top placements as Heather Michalski won the javelin throw with a 36.63m toss, while Charlotte Frere won the discus throw with a 42.81m hurl. Michalski's heave was nearly four meters longer than the runner-up toss of 32.68m. Frere's effort was 3.63m longer than the discus runner-up. Michalski also finished third in the shot put with a throw of 11.72m.
On the men's side, Magnus Wells earned a second-place finish in the shot put competition with a 13.04m toss and a third-place finish in the hammer throw with a 45.35m hurl. Teammate Harry Juarez also earned points for the team after a top-eight mark in the hammer, securing a toss of 40.99m. In the javelin throw, Reid McNeill finished fourth with a 41.48m toss, while teammate Devin Gephart finished fifth with a 41.31m toss.
The Vikings will be back in action on April 1 for the Wartburg Outdoor Select in Waverly, Iowa.
