BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Augustana women's bowling team traveled to Pheasant Lanes on Saturday for the CCIW Illinois Faceoff hosted by Illinois Wesleyan. The Vikings rolled exclusively in Baker format, achieving a 2-2 record and placing third out of five conference teams.
The Vikings' first of two seven-frame series on the afternoon was against the Aurora Spartans, a match they lost by a score of 4-3. Augie knocked over 1175 pins, rolling a high frame of 212 versus the Spartans. In their second match, the Vikings prevailed, defeating the Elmhurst Bluejays by a score of 4-2. The series used six frames, with Augie edging the Bluejays by a 981-926 total pinfall.
Augie defeated the Illinois Wesleyan Titans in their third match on Saturday by a score of 4-2 but lost to the North Central Cardinals in the fourth and final match by a 4-3 final. The Vikings defeated the Titans by nearly a hundred pins, tallying a 922-824 total pinfall, while rolling a high frame of 192. In their match against the Cardinals, Augie brought the series to seven frames, narrowly dropping their final game by a 217-215 score. In the defeat, the Vikings out rolled North Central by a total pinfall of 1221–1202.
Augie will head to Lockport, Ill., on February 10-12 for the Flyer Classic. The competition will be held at Strike N' Spare II bowling alley and can be streamed here.
