ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings women's basketball team will return home to try and earn their fourth consecutive win on Saturday, February 4 when they host the Carthage Firebirds inside the Carver Center.

Augie currently sits 14-7 overall and 8-4 in the CCIW following a pair of back-to-back wins that implicated the conference standings. Following their home win over Illinois Wesleyan last Saturday, the Vikings defeated Wheaton on the road on Wednesday, earning the season sweep over the Thunder for the first time since the 1993-94 season. The victory broke a tie in the standings between the two teams, putting Augustana all alone in third place, just 1.5 games behind Carroll for the final CCIW Tournament bye. The Vikings fell behind early 10-0 against the Thunder, but a 30-point third quarter flipped the script in their favor as they were able to hang on for the two-point win. Macy Beinborn shot 50 percent from the field, including 5-10 from three-point range to lead Augie with 24 points. Carly Stone added 19 points on 70 percent shooting.

Carthage enters Saturday with a 9-11 overall record and 5-6 mark in the CCIW. The Firebirds are enduring a two-game losing skid, falling to Wheaton in their most recent outing last Saturday by a score of 58-55. Carthage is 3-6 on the road this season and has dropped three of their last four. The Firebirds are led by a pair of double-digit scorers in Lauren Knight and Marianna Morrissey at 11.1 points per game.

The Vikings will be looking to avenge an earlier-season loss to the Firebirds, dropping their meeting in Kenosha by a score of 68-56. The Firebirds got out to a fast start due to efficient long-range shooting, holding a 43-19 lead at halftime. Augustana out-scored Carthage by 12 in the second half, but was unable to dig out of the first-half hole. Corey Whitlock led Augie with a double-double, posting 21 points and 11 rebounds. Carthage leads the all-time series between the two programs, 43-31.

Start time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
