Four men's swimming student-athletes named CSC Academic All-District

GREENWOOD, Ind. -- Four Augustana men's swimming student-athletes have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, the CSC announced Tuesday afternoon. Joseph Addison, Kacper Cebula, Gavin McCorry, and Isaiah Valentine were among those recognized.

Addison, a senior from Eads, Tenn., is an Accounting and Business Management double major boasting a 3.95 grade point average (GPA). He is a multi-sport athlete at Augustana, recently earning All-Conference in both men's water polo and men's swimming. In 2023, he helped the the Vikings to their first CCIW Championship in 41 years, snagging conference championships on an individual level in the 400 IM. He also was third in the 500-free. He currently holds the school record in the 400 IM with a time of 4:05.92. In the classroom, he is a three-time Dean's List member at both Monmouth College and Augustana College and has earned the Bell Tower Scholarship, Dean's Scholarship, and S. James Galley Endowment Accounting Scholarship.

Cebula, a sophomore from Huntley, Ill., is a Computer Science and Data Analytics major and owns a 3.89 GPA. He began the year named CCIW swimmer of the Week after starting off the season with the fastest 200-free in the conference. He has been part of multiple school-record-breaking relays in the 400 medley, 400 free and 200 medley, and also broke school records in the 100 IM and 100-breast. This season he was a CCIW All-Conference member and qualified for the finals in every event he swam in 2022-23.

McCorry, a sophomore from Elk Grove Village, Ill., is a triple major in Applied Mathematics, Data Analytics, and Computer Science with a 3.81 GPA. He has made Dean's List every semester so far at Augustana. In the pool, he was a part of the first-place 800-freestyle relay team that broke the CCIW Open, CCIW meet, and school record times at the CCIW Championships. McCorry also holds finishes of third in the 200-back, fifth in the 200-free, eighth in the 500-free, as well as a B final winner in the 500-free.

Valentine, a senior from Cincinnati, Ohio, is a Neuroscience and Philosophy major with a GPA of 3.83. He has been named to Dean's List all seven semesters at Augustana and was named a recipient of the Opportunity Award, Commitment to Excellence Award, and Academic Excellence Award. Valentine is an all-conference swimmer and a two-time B final champion.

All four are now eligible for CSC Academic All-American. The voting period will begin this week.
