KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Augustana Vikings women's tennis team fell on the road on Sunday, defeated by the Kalamazoo Hornets in a non-conference matchup by a final score of 5-4.
The Vikings took the early lead with wins in two of the three doubles matches, earning victories at the No. 2 and 3 positions.
Lily Schoeck and
Lauren Oda grabbed the win at No. 2 by a final of 8-5 and were joined by teammates
Natasha Gauerke and
Maitreyi Shrikhande with an 8-3 win at No. 3.
The Hornets bounced back with four wins in singles to steal the one-point win.
Caitlyn Hanulikova battled through three sets, winning the first and third to defeat her opponent at No. 2 singles.
Michaela Magee won in consecutive sets at No. 3 to earn the other victory for the Vikings.
With the loss, Augustana drops to 5-5 on the season. The team will be back in action on Saturday, March 4 when they face Cornell and Coe in a pair of road matches in Iowa.
