BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Augustana men's and women's indoor track and field teams traveled to the CCIW Indoor Championships on Friday and Saturday. The men's team finished in sixth place, while the women's team placed eighth.
Rhiannon Marshall became a conference champion on Saturday, earning a top placement in the high jump competition with her leap of 1.56 meters. The freshman secured first place by three centimeters.
Also on the women's side,
Emma Odle placed fourth in the 3000-meter run, turning in a 10:28.91 time.
Anna Boardman was narrowly behind Odle with her 10:29.61 time. Boardman then recorded a fifth-place finish in the 5000-meter race, running a time of 18:21.92.
Brooke Ziegenhorn earned a sixth-place finish in the pole vault with her launch of 3.21 meters.
Heather Michalski faced steep competition in the weight throw, placing eighth in the event with her toss of 14.86 meters, netting Augie a single point.
On the men's side,
Seth Sottos grabbed two top-three finishes on day two, earning second in the 200-meter dash and third in the 60-meter sprint, running respective times of 22.45 and 6.98. He improved on his first-place finish in the 60-meter dash from last year's Championships by :16. Sottos was closely followed in the 200-meter sprint by
Connor McBride, who finished fourth with a time of 22.62, and teammate
Jason Smith, who finished fifth with a 22.78 time. McBride also placed fourth in the 400-meter dash, running a time of 50.50. As distance expanded,
Joe Langridge placed fourth in the 3000-meter run with his 8:31.31 time.
Carson Eipers placed third in the weight throw competition with his toss of 18.43 meters. His throw earned Augustana six points and was narrowly behind his season-best hurl of 18.92 meters at the SDSU Indoor Classic on February 11. Vikings'

Derek Butts tied for fourth place in the pole vault, both extending 4.25 meters, earning Augustana eight points overall.
The men's distance medley team, consisting of runners
Joe Gibbons,
Joe Langridge,
Jon Cathcart, and
Jimmy Vercoe, placed fourth. The women's distance medley team, consisting of runners
Kara Lotz,
Madison Morrow,
Lina Maatouk, and Odle, placed fifth.
Mike Hudson placed 10th in the heptathlon, earning first place in the shot put portion of the event with his toss of 10.30 meters. 8th-9th
Between the two teams, the Vikings boasted 14 all-conference performances. The men's distance medley relay team also earned all-conference with their top four standing.
The Vikings will be back in action March 3-4 at the Wartburg Qualifier in Waverly, Iowa.
