Box Score CLINTON, Iowa -- The Augustana Vikings men's tennis team began their spring slate on Saturday, falling to the Luther Norse in a neutral-site match by a score of 9-0.

Luther snagged all three doubles matches to take a 3-0 advantage into singles. Arthur Mendes and Gustavo Fontenelle battled tough at No. 3 doubles, but ultimately fell by a score of 8-5.

In singles, the Norse had to work to take a good majority of the contests, including two three-set matches at No. 1 and No. 4. Arthur Hermange battled back from a first-set loss at the top slot to win the second by a score of 6-2 before falling 10-5 in the tiebreaker. Deepak Vayara also fought back after a tough opening-set defeat, winning 6-4 to force the tie-breaking set. Luther came out on top by a identical 10-5 score. 

The Vikings drop to 0-1 on the season with the loss. Augustana is back in action on Saturday, February 26 at Kalamazoo.
