PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The Augustana men's wrestling team will be back in action on Friday, February 3 when they head to lower Wisconsin for a dual against the No. 17 ranked UW-Platteville Pioneers.
The Vikings sport a 10-6 record this season, with their most recent competition taking place in Wheaton, Ill., for the two-day Pete Willson Invitational. Trevor Boryla recorded a top-three finish for Augustana in the highly-competitive tournament, conquering the 133-class consolation bracket. Vinny Querciagrossa in the 174 class and Daniel Skold in the 285 class both had solid finishes for Augie, placing sixth and ninth. The Vikings finished 15 out of 31 teams in attendance. Augie's last dual action came at the CCIW Duals in Mequon, Wis. The Vikings achieved a record of 1-2, defeating Concordia (Wis.) 30-16, but falling in their other two matchups to Aurora and Wheaton by scores of 25-23 and 23-22, respectively.
Platteville enters Friday's dual possessing an 8-6 record this season. The Pioneers are currently on a two-game skid in dual competition, most recently suffering losses to UW-La Crosse and UW-Eau Claire by scores of 26-10 and 18-14. Augie and Platteville have met five times across the last decade, with the Vikings securing four of the five matchups. The most recent dual between the two programs resulted in a 28-13 loss at home for Augustana on January 19, 2018.
