ELMHURST, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's wrestling team fell to the Elmhurst Bluejays 26-22 for an away conference match on Thursday.
After Elmhurst grabbed the first three matches of the night, the Vikings quickly recovered with four straight victories resulting from falls. Freshman
Michael Macias (149) won his match by a technical fall against Bluejays senior to cut off Elmhurst's winning streak. Another freshman,
Jack Miller bumped up from 157 to 165 to pin a graduate student in a really close match.
Kameron Hanel (157) and AJ Joyner (174) also earned wins to help add four straight wins and give Augie a 23-9 advantage.
The Bluejays won the final three matches of the dual to go out in front and claim the win. Augie saw a one-point score reduction following the match to bring the final to 26-22.
The Augustana Vikings will stay on the road for the Luther Open on Saturday at 11 a.m.
