ROCK ISLAND – The Augustana Vikings men's wrestling team hosted a season-opening dual against MSOE, securing a 30-18 victory over the Raiders.

Augie started the event with a win from Jack Reina in the 125 class, followed by two match defeats. With the great environment in the Tim Dodge Mezzanine/Carver Wrestling Arena, the Vikings were able to turn the outcomes around, secure two wins in a row of their own

The Raiders captured victories in the 133 and 141 classes. Michael Macias cut the Raider streak with success at 149.

Other Augustana successful outcomes were Kameron Hanel (157), A.J. Joyner (174), Jacob Badger (197), and Anthony Joyner (285).

The Vikings had four extra matches, obtaining a 2-2 record.

The Augustana men's wrestling team improves to 1-0 with the win and will travel to Elmhurst, Ill. on November 9 for a conference dual meet starting at 7 p.m.
