ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana men's wrestling team faced the Simpson Storm and Central Dutch for a set of non-conference duals on Thursday in the Tim Dodge Mezzanine. Augie secured a 37-16 win over Simpson in their opening dual of the night before being bested 36-9 in their second dual to No. 18 Central.

The Vikings had seven victories over the Storm starting with Samuel Deyro, who earned a technical fall victory in the 133 weight class. Will Taylor won due to a fall in the 141 division, while Michael Macias grabbed a 13-5 major decision in 149. Jack Miller also won by fall in the 157 division before Simpson claimed the next two faceoffs by a technical fall in 165 and a fall in 174. Augie ended the showdown with three wins, starting with Braiden Young's win by fall in the 184 class prior to Jacob Badger's 11-1 major decision in 197. Josh Woodrey secured a fall win over his opponent in 285 to round out the team's victory. 

Against the Dutch, the Vikings grabbed two wins from the nationally-ranked team. Macias earned a 4-3 decision in the 149 division, obtaining three team points. Miller was the other individual who won his weight class at 157, who won by fall and earned six points for the Vikings. 

The Augustana Vikings will be back on the road for a conference contest on Saturday, December 2 to take on the No. 20 Millikin Big Blue at 7 p.m.
