Box Score BERKELEY, Calif. -- The Augustana Vikings men's water polo team is heading to its second straight MPSF East title game following a 24-14 victory over the Washington & Jefferson Presidents on Saturday.

The Vikings held a two-goal advantage after a high-scoring opening quarter, seeing the first three goals of the game go in their favor from three different players. Oskar Bannister got Augie on the board at the 5:39 mark, followed by tallies from Rhys Lomax and Colin McDowell. The Vikings countered a score from the President with another from Zander O'Dwyer before two in a row from Washington & Jefferson made it a one-point game. Stevan Rasic gave Augustana some cushion with a late score to make it 5-3 after eight minutes of action.

Another high-scoring period followed, with the Vikings doubling up the Presidents 6-3 in the frame to take an 11-6 lead into halftime. McDowell notched the first two goals of the period, followed by two from Bannister. Lomax added his second of the contest before Joseph Addison found the scoring column for the team's 11th goal.

Washington & Jefferson inched closer through the third period, doubling up Augustana with a 4-2 advantage to cut the deficit to three at 13-10. Alden Brinkmeier and Lucas Osborn both contributed goals for the Vikings, but three in a row to end the quarter brought the Presidents within striking distance.

An 11-point fourth quarter for Augustana put the game out of reach, seeing goals from six different Vikings. Ian Palmroos and Tyler Leslie both added their first scores of the game as the Vikings ran away with the double-digit win.

Bannister led Augie with five goals in the win, while three others tallied four apiece. Henry Sothern had five saves and one steal in net.

With the win, the Vikings improve to 14-6 on the season. The team will next face Austin on Sunday in the MPSF East title game, with the winner to advance to the USA Water Polo National Tournament.
