ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings women's basketball team returns home to face the UW-Platteville Pioneers on Thursday, November 16.
The Vikings head into their second contest of the week with a 2-1 record, conquering their most recent matchup 76-45 to the Monmouth Fighting Scots on Tuesday. Augie was quick to start in the contest as
Emma Berg took and made a shot from deep in the first 15 seconds. Heading into halftime, Augie held a 34-21 lead due to a big advantage from the field, making double the amount of makes than the Scots and four additional three-pointers. Augie played a strong defensive game in the last half, generating eight steals while holding Monmouth to just seven made shots on 33 attempts and winning by a margin of 42-24 through the final 20 minutes to complete the 76-45 final.
Macy Beinborn led the way with 17 points.
Kadence Tatum narrowly missed out on a triple-double, ending with 16 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists to go with four steals.
Carly Stone also added 15 points.
Cali Papez also contributed a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
The Pioneers enter the non-conference matchup with a 2-1 record, returning from an 88-51 victory against Bethany Lutheran on Tuesday. The Pioneers shot 52.2 percent from the floor and 36.4 percent from beyond the arc in the win. UW-Platteville's defense held the Vikings to just 34.5 percent shooting and forced 19 turnovers. Platteville's lone defeat this season came on the road at nationally-ranked Hope last Saturday.
UW-Platteville leads Augie 12-7 in the all-time series. Last year the two teams met in the Carver Center, resulting in a 56-46 win for the Pioneers.
