ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana men's and women's wrestling teams travel back to the Quad Cities for a CCIW dual against the Carthage Firebirds on Thursday, November 16.

Augie is coming off last weekend's Luther Open, where they found success on both sides. The men had two top 10 finishers, with Michael Macias placing third in the 149 weight class and Khadyn Jacobs finishing eighth in 125. On the women's side, Augie had six individuals who placed , starting with Angie Guy who grabbed a first-place finish in the 191 weight class. Both Sawyer Graham (170) and Sandie Pfeil (123) placed third, while Monica Griffin achieved fifth in 130, Jaiden Moody sixth in 155, and Lanie Cecala seventh in 143.

The Firebirds are 1-1 on the men's side and 0-1 on the women's (flipped words around) after both dropping to the North Central Cardinals on Tuesday. Carthage had a win from each team in the dual, with the men winning in the 157 weight class and the women winning the 116 matchup.
 
The men have won their last three matchups against Carthage, dating back to the 2021 season. The Vikings beat the Firebirds last year by a score of 43-6.  This will be the women's second battle against Carthage. Their last meeting was on November 15, 2022, where Augie picked up a 24-13 victory. 

Start time is scheduled for 5 p.m. on the women's side, and 6 p.m. for the men on Thursday in the Tim Dodge Mezzanine/Carver Wrestling Arena.
