ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings women's volleyball team was defeated on Wednesday by the Millikin Big Blue, falling by a score of 3-0.

The first set featured a game of runs, with Augie taking the first three points of the match before the big Blue quickly evened the score and eventually took the lead. After the Vikings went back out in front after being the first to reach 10 points, a 6-1 spurt from Millikin flipped momentum back in their favor as they held the lead for a long stretch of the game. Augie charged back to tied the score at 21 points apiece, but four of the final five points went to Millikin to make it a 1-0 advantage in the match for the visitors.

After the Big Blue took set two by double figures, Augie jumped out to a fast start in the third with the opening two points. Millikin again used an early scoring surge to claim the lead, eventually pulling away to take the game by a score of 25-17 and complete the match win.

Emily Schipper led the Vikings with 10 kills, while Amelie Baehr-Ross notched 13 digs and 13 assists.

The team also set a new program record for attendance in the Carver Center, breaking the previous mark of 350 with 435 in the building on Wednesday.

Augustana drops to 21-6 overall and 4-4 in the CCIW. The team will be back in action on Friday for Senior Night against Central.
