ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings women's volleyball team will return home on Wednesday as they aim to set a new attendance record inside the Carver Center when they take on the Millikin Big Blue.
The theme of the match will be a whiteout and all Augustana fans in attendance wearing white will receive a free raffle ticket at the door. Throughout the match, ticket numbers will be read and prizes will be awarded to the person with the winning number. Wednesday is also Professor Appreciation Night as members of the women's volleyball team all invited a faculty member to attend the contest.
Augustana currently sits with a record of 21-5, recently coming off a 4-0 week. The Vikings clinched a CCIW Tournament berth on Friday with a 3-1 road win over Carroll and followed it up with two non-conference victories on Saturday against Edgewood and MSOE. The Vikings are 4-3 in conference and currently sit as the No. 5 seed in the upcoming tournament. Following last week's matches,
Grace Vranicar was named the CCIW Player of the Week on Monday after averaging 6.4 digs per set. Her 42-dig effort against Dubuque is the most of any CCIW player in a match this season.
Millikin enters Wednesday receiving votes in the latest AVCA poll with a 20-9 overall record and 6-1 mark in the CCIW. The Big Blue recently saw its six-match winning streak come to an end over the weekend, dropping two matches to UW-Eau Claire and Chicago. Millikin is under .500 on the road this season with a 4-5 mark, but has won its last three contests at opponents' venues.
Augustana is 18-53 all-time vs. Millikin, but halted a longstanding losing streak last season, winning over the Big Blue on the road in four sets.
Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
