BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's and women's swimming & diving teams both claimed first place at the IWU Halloween Invite on Saturday, the second year in a row each squad has won this meet.
"Today was an outstanding day for both of our teams and it definitely showed our strength in depth," said head coach
Dan Lloyd. "I am extremely proud of our program and the way our team stepped up and raced with a true commitment to excellence."
In relays, the women's 500-free relay of Hailey Glasnovich, Mara Walker, Isabelle Sansom, and Olivia White had a strong presence, taking first by nine seconds. This group clocked in with a time of 4:51.56. The men's 500-free relay consisting of Jack Brandt, Cesar Castillo, Evan Lopez, and Gavin McCorry cruised their way to first with a time of 51.87. In the women's 300-fly relay, the team of Zoe Heiar, Annabella Valenti, and Bella Casanovas had a dominant effort in the water taking first with a time of 3:10.57, good for eight seconds ahead of second place. On the men's side, the same event was won by Lucas Rettig, Hunter Craft, and Kacper Cebula, out-touching second by .03.

The women's 300-back relay composed of Glasnovich, Emily Martin, and M. Walker took silver. On the men's side, the 300-back relay took first, which consisted of Dante Rinaldi, Cesar Castillo, and McCorry (2:47.94).

Livy Sholl, Logan Alsop, and Caitlin Stoddard made up the 300 breast relay. Together the team took second with a time of 3:39.26. On the men's side, the team of Cebula, Lopez, and Michael Garland took first by six seconds.

Both medley relays were victorious. Glasnovich (back), Sholl (breast), Heiar (fly), and Kendle Mihm (free) touched the wall with a time of 1:52.62. Rettig (back), Cebula (breast), Craft(fly), and Albert Buvary (free) finished with a time of 1:38.07.

The women's 300 medley relay made up of Martin, Valenti, and M. Walker had an incredible back half, out-touching Wesleyan by .1 to claim first. The men's team earned second clocking in at 2:49.96.
- Both 200-free relays ended the meet with a win. Together, Glasnovich, Mihm, Sansom, and M. Walker finished with a time of 1:43.59, which took first by a margin of 4 seconds. On the men's side, Rettig, Cebula, Buvary, and Brandt clocked in at 1:28.61.
On an individual level, Mihm was the winner in the 100-free with a time of 56.93, edging out two of her teammates in second and third. M. Walker was victorious in both the 200-free and 200-back, beating out opponents from Illinois Wesleyan in both. Casanovas easily coasted her way to first in the 200-fly, beating out the next to finish by eight seconds with a time of 2:20.1. Brooke Walker earned first in the 500 with a final mark of 5:26.25.
For the men, McCorry earned gold in the 200-back after touching the wall with a time of 2:00.50. Garland was the winner in the 200-breast with a time of 2:16.52. Lopez edged out second in the 500-free to take first with a time of 5:01.53.
The Viking women claimed first out of five six teams with a point total of 114, while the men grabbed first out of five teams with a score of 115. The teams will be back in action on November 11 when they host Illinois Wesleyan in a dual meet.
