ROCK ISLAND – The Augustana men's and women's wrestling teams hosted three programs for the Fred Johnson Duals on Saturday, January 7. The Viking men swept the opposition, claiming victories in their three matches, while the Augie women won two of their competitions.

In their first duals of the round-robin style competition, the Vikings matched up against Westminster. The men's team captured a dominant opening-round victory, besting the Bluejays by a 45-9 score. Augie opened and closed the dual with three straight victories. The women's team dropped their dual to Westminster by a 21-7 final, their lone defeat on Saturday.

Augie then faced the Quincy Hawks on the mat, with the men's and women's teams both capturing victories. The win for the women's team marked their first dual victory at home in program history. The men's match rested at a 13-13 tie entering the 184 class before the Vikings rattled off three straight wins to secure their second dual triumph of the afternoon.

To conclude their trio of contests, both the men's and women's team's knocked off the Eureka Red Devils. The Viking women secured their dual by a 27-6 score, while the men finished their day with a convincing 30-21 win.

On the men's side, Augustana had multiple wrestlers not drop a match, Trevor Boryla (133), Chase Clark (157), Clay DeBaillie (184), Jacob Badger (197), and Daniel Skold (HWT). Sandie Pfeil led the way for the women with two victories, while four other Vikings secured at least one match.
