1/17/2023 5:00:00 PM

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Augustana women's basketball team travels to face the North Central Cardinals for a conference contest on Wednesday, January 18.

The Vikings currently possess a 10-6 season record and are coming off a road defeat to Illinois Wesleyan on January 14 by a 78-69 score. Augie was outscored by plus-ten in the opening frame, a differential they could not overcome as the game unraveled. The Vikings had four scorers eclipse double-digit point totals, led by a pair of 13-point performances from Emily Brenneisen and Emma Berg. On the glass, Gabriela Loiz led the team with eight boards while also contributing six steals.

The Cardinals enter Wednesday night's contest sporting a 4-10 record while sitting at 1-6 in CCIW play. All but one of North Central's wins this season have come at home. The Cardinals are currently on a four-game skid, dropping conference matches to Millikin, Wheaton, and Carthage along that stretch. Their most recent defeat came at the hands of the Millikin by a 72-57 final score. The Cardinals led by 12 at the half but could not stave off the Big Blue in the final two frames.

Augustana leads the all-time series between the two programs by a 45-37 record. The most recent matchup between the conference foes came on January 26, 2022. The Vikings secured the victory after Loiz sunk two last-second free throws to send the game to overtime. The Vikings then scored 10 of the 12 total points in the extra frame to earn the home win. Macy Beinborn turned in a game-high 17-point scoring effort to deny the season series sweep.

Start time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. from Gregory Arena. Stream link for Wednesday's contest can be found here
