WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Augustana Vikings men's water polo team will head to the east coast on September 10-11 to compete in the W&J Invite hosted by Washington & Jefferson.
The Vikings will begin the weekend on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. CST against the Mercyhurst Lakers. This will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs. Mercyhurst was defeated by Washington & Jefferson by two scores in their lone loss.
Augie will close out Saturday's action with a matchup against the host school Presidents of Washington & Jefferson. The Presidents sit at 2-0 on the season, with wins over Mercyhurst and Long Island. On Sunday, the Vikings will face their first ranked opponent of the season as they take on the No. 4 ranked Johns Hopkins Blue Jays. This will be the first-ever encounter between the two schools. The matchup between the Vikings and Blue Jays is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. CST.
Augustana rounds out their trip to Pennsylvania at 12:15 p.m. CST with a battle against Penn State Behrend. Augie went 3-0 against the Lions in 2021, scoring 15 or more goals in two of the meetings. Penn State Behrend fell to Long Island by a score of 20-4 in their only game so far this season.
