RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings women's volleyball team will be back in action on Tuesday, September 27 when they face the Dominican Stars on the road for a non-conference matchup.
Augie is coming off of a big win at Millikin last Friday, their first over the Big Blue since 2007, breaking a 16-match losing streak in the process. The Vikings fell behind after the first set, but rattled off three straight wins, including a 29-27 victory in set two and 26-24 win in the fourth. Millikin out-hit Augustana 61-37 in kills, but committed 27 attack and 20 service errors.
Caroline Hurst led the offensive efforts for Augie with 15 kills, followed by 10 from
Emily Schipper and seven from
Jaden Julius.
Amelie Baehr-Ross finished with 30 assists and a team-high 18 digs, while
Syd Krueger assisted on seven blocks to go with one solo.
Dominican currently sits at 4-7 on the season and are in the midst of a four-match losing streak. The Stars were defeated by North Central in their last outing by a score of 3-0. Dominican is 0-3 vs. CCIW opponents this season and 0-2 against common opponents with Augustana. The Stars also fell to Knox by a final of 3-0. Augustana defeated the Prairie Fire in their season opener by a score of 3-2.
This will be the ninth time the two programs have squared off, each winning four in the all-time series. Their most recent meeting came back in 2018, resulting in a 3-2 home victory for the Stars.
