ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Augustana women's volleyball will start their 2022 season at home on Thursday, September 1. The Vikings are set to host Knox at 6:00 P.M in the Carver Center.
The Vikings enter the new season after posting an 11-21 overall record and 2-6 mark in CCIW play in 2021. Augie won five games in their home arena, their most at any venue last season. Two of those home victories included non-conference wins at the 2021 Pumpkin Bash, both coming via sweep.
Augie returns four of the five most prolific offensive players from a year ago including kills-leader
Emily Schipper,
Brook Fieldman,
Jaden Julius, and
Sydney Krueger. The Vikings also bring back Second-Team All-CCIW defensive specialist
Grace Vranicar and her team-high 523 digs.
The Augustana women also bring back a trio of seniors including
Ja'Nya Davis, last season's leading blocker with 62,
Caroline Hurst, and
Melanie Wiegmann.
Knox starts the new season after going 10-15 overall in the 2021 season. The Prairie Fire lost their final game of the 2021 campaign but won three of four prior to the finale.
Augustana has dominated the all-time series with Knox. The Vikings are currently riding a 17-game winning streak over the Prairie Fire with the most recent contest coming in 2019. Knox's last win came in a five-set thriller in 1991.
Start time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
