The Augustana Vikings women's swimming & diving team claimed the program's first CCIW title in 25 years this past season, closing the three-day conference meet on top with 729 points. The title is their seventh all-time in program history and first since 1997, which was led by head coach Dave Thomas. 

The Viking women held the lead after day one's action with a team score of 257, followed by Carthage (206), Illinois Wesleyan (198), Wheaton (126), Millikin (103), Carroll (102) and North Central (42). Carthage entered 2022 as the three-time defending champion on the women's side. Through the second day, Augie led with a team score of 519, followed by Illinois Wesleyan (473), and Carthage (420). The Vikings saw two school records on day two as freshman Zoe Heiar posted a time of 59.20 in the 100-yard butterfly, followed by a program-best mark of 7:52.51 in the 800-yard freestyle relay from Brooke Walker, Madelynn Marunde, Alicia Garcia, and Dominique Valentine.

On Saturday, Marunde earned conference champion in the 1650-yard freestyle, coming in first with a time of 17:41.06. Her teammate, Walker, came in second to help score the Vikings 37 total team points in the event alone and help them maintain their first-place standing to the end. Augustana finished with a total of 729 points, 20 ahead of second-place Illinois Wesleyan. The Vikings boasted seven all-conference recipients at the CCIW Championships.

The 2021-22 season started with an historic 187-18 win over Monmouth in the team's first-ever meet inside the newly-built Anne Greve Lund Natatorium. Augie followed it up two weeks later with another home victory, this time a six-point triumph over Illinois Wesleyan, who finished second at the conference meet. Overall, Augustana went 4-0 on the season in dual meets and has not lost a head-to-head matchup since February 1, 2020. They are 18-3 over the course of the last four seasons. In 2021-22, the Vikings earned a top-three standings in two of their three invitationals prior to the conference championships.

Zoe Heiar broke the school record in the 100-yard butterfly, posting a time of :58.60 to break the previous best time of :58.71 set by Gabrielle Ainsworth in 2020. The 800 free relay team also set a school record at the CCIW Championships as Marunde, Walker, Alicia Garcia, and Dominique Valentine secured a final time of 7:52.51.

A total of 36 different marks this season landed in the all-time top ten lists in the Augie record book. Marunde and Walker both grabbed No. 2 and No. 3 all-time in the 500-yard freestyle, while Emily Martin also grabbed top-five spots in three different events. Marunde graduates from Augustana holding the top two times in 500-free, 1000-free, and 1650-free. Aviana Zahara holds two spots in the top six in the 100-free and 100-backstroke, inlcuding the school record in both. The Vikings also hold six of the pool records set in the first year of the Anne Greve Lund Natatorium, including a 1m diving score of 176.40 from Emily Miksta.

In June, the women were named to the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America team list for the sixth straight year.
