GENEVA, Ohio -- Katrina Krebasch became the first Augustana All-American on the women's side in the pole vault event since 2007, earning third place at the NCAA DIII outdoor national championships on Thursday at the SPIRE Institute.
The senior from Wood Dale, Ill. missed on her first attempt of the afternoon at 3.60m before rattling off five straight successful clears, with the last at 3.90m to put her as part of the final three participants remaining. After missing on her first try at 3.95m, Krebasch passed on her final two attempts at the height to move on to 4.00m. Despite the other two student-athletes hitting on 3.95m, they both missed on all three tries at 4.00m, setting up Krebasch with two chances to win a national title.
On her first attempt, Krebasch narrowly missed, just clipping the bar on her way down. Her second and final attempt was close, but just came up short, locking her in third place and in the Augie record books as an All-American.
Her finish in the top eight is the first time an Augie woman has done so since Meghan Voiland won the national championship in the outdoor event in 2007. Krebasch is also the first member of the women's program to earn All-American at any national outdoor event since 2018.
On top of her third-place finish, the senior ends her season with a ninth-place standing in the pole vault at the indoor national meet, a CCIW title in both the pole vault (indoor) and high jump (outdoor) and a school record of 3.97m in the pole vault, which she claimed in the final regular-season meet of the year.
