JOLIET, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's and women's outdoor track & field teams competed at the Fighting Chance Meet hosted by St. Francis over the weekend, seeing several personal bests as they concluded their penultimate outing before the national championships later this month.
Michael Gille ran 3.52.62 in the 1500m run, which is good for a personal record (PR) for him and places him just outside the top ten all-time in Augustana program history. Teammates
Jason Smith (22.50) and
Braeden Clements both posted PRs in the 200m dash, each finishing in the top 20 in the event.
Ean Martin (23.16) and
Logan Hansen (24.68) also grabbed lifetime bests in the 200m as well.
Ian Rothery placed 14th out of 26 in the 400m after finishing with a time of 50.93.
Reid McNeill (4.25m) and
Dakota Straight (4.10m) both earned top ten finishes in the pole vault, with McNeill also securing fifth in the javelin with a toss of 43.12m.
On the women's side, Sarah Clapp earned a PR with a time of 27.17 in the 200m.
Additionally, at the St. Ambrose Mini-Meet on Wednesday,
Heather Michalski threw 41.46m in the discus. This is a personal best for the first-year thrower and ranks fourth all-time in program history in the event.
No team scores were recorded at St. Francis. The Vikings will be back in action on Thursday, May 19 for their home Midwest Twlighting meet. Start time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
