ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Augustana women's golf closed their season this weekend with a two-day tournament in the Quad Cities. Augie hosted the Viking Invitational at Highland Springs Golf Course and kept the team crown in Rock Island. The Viking Invitational championship was the Augie women's fourth win of the season.
Augustana won an incredibly competitive tournament with a team score of 640, or 64-over par. The Vikings trailed St. Ambrose, the eventual runner-up squad, by four strokes with six holes to play and went on a roll to end the day. The Fighting Bees finished ten strokes behind Augustana. Aurora University rounded out the top three in the team race at +84.
St. Ambrose's Amara Lytle won the individual crown at +9, two strokes in front of Markie Ash, the runner-up from UW-Platteville.
Avery Frick and
Elena Kuczkowski finished T-3 and were the lowest Vikings on the individual leaderboard. Kuczkowski's 75 in the first round gave her the lead after day one. Frick also shot a 76 on day two which was tied with
Kelsey O'Connor for the Vikings' lowest round of the day.
O'Connor posted the third top five finish for the Vikings at +13. The Vikings entered two teams and four individuals in the tournament and the full results can be seen below.
