MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Augustana men's golf concluded their 2022 schedule this weekend at the CCIW Championships. The Vikings improved in each round but could not keep pace with the higher finishers.
Augustana started the tournament with a total team score of 327 in the first round. The Vikings improved in day two with a score of 315 and finished the tournament with their best team round of 310.
Illinois Wesleyan took the team crown by a wide margin. The Titans finished eight over par as a team, well ahead of the runner-up from Carthage at +35.
Dan Ford finished as the highest individual golfer for the Vikings with opening rounds of 79 and 74. Despite a closing 83, Ford ended the three-day event T-21.
Adam Soczka also posted a top 25 finish at T-24 after rounds of 83, 81, and an impressive 73 to conclude the weekend. Other Vikings included
Tyler Langel,
Jonah Snelling, and
Hunter Love who finished T-29, T-32, and T-40, respectively.
Illinois Wesleyan also boasted the top three individual place winners. Jimmy Morton won the event at six-under par followed by Carl Christiansen a -1. Will Nummy rounded out the top three for the Titans at +6. IWU's Jim Ott was named CCIW Men's Golf Coach of the Year.
Augustana's
Tyler Langel was also selected as the Vikings' honoree for the CCIW RESPECT Award.
