ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's tennis team will play host to the Millikin Big Blue on Wednesday, April 27 in each team's final regular-season contest of the year. The winner would claim the No. 4 seed in the upcoming CCIW tournament to take place in early May.
Augustana enters Wednesday winners of their last two matches, picking up wins over Illinois Wesleyan and Elmhurst. In their most recent outing against the Bluejays, the Vikings took all three doubles matches to jump out to a 3-0 lead heading into singles. Elmhurst grabbed just two of the six singles contests as Augustana pulled away for the match win.
Arthur Hermange secured a dominating 6-0, 6-1 win at the top position, joined by
Gabriel Luna's quick 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 6 to help lead the way. The Vikings currently sit 5-11 overall and 3-3 in conference action.
Millikin comes in sporting a 12-8 overall record and are also 3-3 in the CCIW. The Big Blue have seen an identical conference slate as the Vikings this season, defeating the same three teams in Illinois Wesleyan, Elmhurst, and Carroll while also losing to the same three teams. In their most recent contest, Millikin defeated Elmhurst at home by a score of 6-3.
Augie is 38-4 all-time against Millikin, defeating the Big Blue in their last encounter in 2021 in Decatur by a score of 5-4.
Start time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. from the Lower Campus Courts on the campus of Augustana College.
