HANOVER PARK, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's tennis team will head back on the road on Wednesday, April 13 when they visit the Wheaton Thunder for a CCIW contest.

Augie is coming off of a 9-0 road defeat by North Central on Sunday. The Cardinals took a 3-0 lead in the match following a sweep of doubles play. The No. 1 tandem of Leonard Panosso and Arthur Hermange battled tough, but eventually fell by a final of 8-5. In singles, the Vikings put together a couple of close sets with their opponents, with Deepak Vayara at No. 3 taking his opponent to a third set after falling in the first. Vayara was defeated in the third-set tiebreaker 1-0 (8). Timothee Philip and Nicolas Navarro also nearly squeaked out set wins, falling in their respective matches at No. 4 and 6 with final scores of 7-5, 6-2 and 7-6, 6-3.

Augie is 3-10 overall and 1-2 in conference play.

Wheaton enters Wednesday with a 8-4 overall record and 1-0 mark in league action. The Thunder defeated Elmhurst in their CCIW opener on April 4, which was also their last contest played after seeing a non-conference match with MSOE canceled. Wheaton has won eight of ten matches after beginning the season 0-2. They are 2-2 against common opponents with Augustana.

Augustana is 24-46 all-time against Wheaton, but have won five straight in the series. The Vikings defeated the Thunder last season at home by a score of 5-4.

Due to forecasted weather, start time has been moved up from 4:00 p.m. to 10:15 a.m.
