ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's tennis team will welcome in the Carthage Firebirds on Saturday, April 2, followed by the Carroll Pioneers on Sunday to kick off the 2022 CCIW portion of their schedule.
The Vikings enter the weekend with an overall record of 2-8. The team picked up a 9-0 victory over Lawrence in their most recent outing last week down in South Carolina. After a quick 3-0 start at doubles, Augie won all six singles matches in consecutive sets, including four 6-0, 6-0 wins at No. 3, 4, 5, and 6 from

Nicolas Navarro,
Gabriel Luna, and Eliot St. Paul.
Leonardo Panosso was named the reigning CCIW Men's Tennis Player of the Week after going 2-1 in both singles and doubles play last week.
Carthage currently sports a 16-1 overall record and is 1-0 in league play following a 9-0 victory over Carroll last Friday. The Firebirds are riding an eight-game winning streak, with their lone loss of the season coming back on February 26, a 9-0 defeat to UW-Whitewater. The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released their latest regional rankings on Monday, placing the Carthage men's tennis team at No. 10.
Augustana leads the all-time series over Carthage 31-30. The Vikings have won five straight over the Firebirds, with their last encounter resulting in a 5-2 triumph for Augie in the CCIW Tournament semifinals
Start time has been moved to 2:30 p.m. and will now take place at Quad City Tennis Club in Moline.
On Sunday, the Vikings will host the Pioneers back at the Lower Campus Courts on the campus of Augustana. Carroll is 1-7 overall, 0-1 in conference so far this season and are enduring a four-game losing skid. The team was defeated in their most recent matchup by MSOE by a score of 9-0. The Pioneers' lone win this season came back on March 5, a 7-2 victory over Lakeland.
Augie is 17-3 all-time vs. Carroll. Start time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
