WAVERLY, Iowa -- Members of the Augustana indoor track & field teams continued to see success on an individual level at the Wartburg Qualifier over the week, with student-athletes from both the men's and women's sides securing lifetime bests.
Michael Gille ran 8:29 in the 3000m run to place him fifth overall in the event, putting him fourth all-time in the Augustana record books in the race.
Seth Sottos earned a third-place finish in the 200m dash, also securing fourth all-time in program history after posting a time of 22.31. Sottos also secured sixth in the 60m with a mark of 7.06.
The 4x400m relay team of
Connor McBride,
Ian Rothery,
Sylvester Brady, and
Braeden Clements posted a season-best mark of 3:25.44, highlighted by McBride's anchor 49.8 carry. In field events,
Jack Currie placed in the top five in the shot put with a heave of 14.73m, while
Carson Eipers grabbed third in the weight throw with a toss of 18.17m.
On the women's side,
Carmen Bruchnak ran 2:24.71 in the 800m, which is a lifetime indoor best for the senior.
This concludes the indoor track & field regular season for Augustana. The Vikings will send Eipers (weight throw) and
Katrina Krebasch (pole vault) to the NCAA DIII Championships beginning Friday, March 11 from Winston-Salem, N.C. Krebasch will enter the national meet with the fourth-best pole vault mark (3.86m) in DIII, while Eipers comes in with the third-best (19.32) in the weight throw.
