GALESBURG, Ill. – Augustana men's golf competed at the Jim Wetherbee Invite this weekend. Hosted by Knox College, the Vikings finished in the middle of the 20-team pack.
Aurora University claimed the team championship with three individuals in the top three on the leaderboard including one tied for the personal crown. Aurora's Braeden Duncan and Illinois Central's Jeremy Ott shared the individual title.
Augustana's team finished T-10 with the hosts from Knox. The Vikings improved from the first to second day of the tournament as they were sitting alone in 11
th position after one round.
Tyler Langel finished T-30 and was the lone Viking in the top 30 on the individual board after rounds of 83 and 74.
Hunter Love finished T-40 also improved over the weekend with rounds of 81 and 79.
Other Viking players included
Adam Soczka who led the team with a T-20 position after the first round, but slipped back to finish T-47.
Jonah Snelling and
Dan Ford completed the roster for the Vikings with T-72 and T-92 finishes, respectively.
The Viking men's golf team will visit a CCIW opponent for their next competition. Augie travels to the Illinois Wesleyan Invite on Friday, Apr. 1 and Saturday, Apr. 2.
